To Ohio AAPI Youth:
The 2014 Ohio AAPI Legislative Day on
Thursday March 6th (10:15 to 3:15 pm),
at the Ohio Statehouse, is a wonderful opportunity to learn about
Ohio government, meet others from across Ohio, and become active in
issues of concern. All costs, including
transportation, lunch, and snacks will be covered.
(Bus transportation will be provided from, Cincinnati,
Cleveland/Akron, Dayton, and Toledo.)
The day begins with the keynote
speaker, Mee Moua, a dynamic leader,
former Congresswoman, and current Director of Asian Americans
Advancing Justice, a leading national civil rights organization.
You will find her talk inspiring!
A panel of legislators will, then, discuss
their views and visions on a variety of timely issues, and a Q
& A session will follow.
During lunch, you will meet other attendees and
receive information about getting to know your legislators.
The Youth Engagement Session will take
place at 12:40 to 1:40 pm. Youth leaders
will serve on the panel. Discussion will focus on the
value of youth engagement and how you can become involved in
various activities and leadership roles. You will also have a
chance to meet other high school and college students from across
Ohio.
Between 1:40 and 2:40 pm you can
visit with one of our legislative leaders. These
leaders will appreciate meeting you and hearing your points of
view.
At 2:40 pm all participants will get together to share
their visiting experiences with the group as a
whole.
